It looks like The CW is seriously committing itself to the super hero business.
The network is planning a spin-off of its current DC Comics series Arrow and The Flash. The show would include not one, but several DC characters that have already been featured on both hits.
The project, which is on the table for next season’s programming slate, would star Brandon Routh, Victor Garber, Wentworth Miller, and Caity Lotz as — you guessed it — Atom, Firestorm, Captain Cold and the very first Black Canary, respectively.
In addition to these characters, three other unnamed heroes that have not appeared in either series would also join the cast.
The network is looking to Arrow creators Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim to helm the currently untitled project.
The choice to include Black Canary is an interesting one to say the least, considering that the character bit the dust in Arrow.
The announcement that the hero will be joining the team leaves this aspect of the news open to question, including whether the series plans to revive the character (and how), as well as whether it would co-exist within the already established universes of Arrow and The Flash.
Whatever the move, the star-studded series would be a solid addition to The CW’s current super hero slate.
Your move, Marvel.
