Dan Harmon Replaced as Showrunner on ‘Community’

Dan Harmon, creator and showrunner for the past three seasons on NBC’s cult hit comedy Community, will be employed as a “consulting producer” on the fourth season of the show, Sony Pictures Television confirmed this week. He is being replaced in his showrunner duties by David Guarascio and Moses Port from ABC’s Happy Endings.

Harmon’s clashes with Sony have been well documented, along with his public feud with Community star Chevy Chase, so the decision to remove him is not surprising. Several other producers and writers have left as well. It remains to be seen if the new crew can recapture the humor and charm that Community is known for in what may be its final thirteen episodes next season.
