Ed Harris is the latest name attached to HBO’s forthcoming scifi drama pilot Westworld.

Harris was announced today as having secured a central leading role in the pilot as the Man in Black, a villainous character personified by Yul Brynner in Michael Crichton’s 1973 film.

HBO’s latest incarnation is similarly set at an amusement park, and is described as “a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin.”

Harris will be joined by James Marsden, Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood and Jeffrey Wright among others.

The project comes from JJ Abrams Bad Robot and Person Of Interest creator Jonathan Nolan, along with writer Lisa Joy, producer Jerry Weintraub and Warner Bros TV.
