CBS has ordered two new drama pilots, including Elementary, a modern day version of Sherlock Holmes which will be set in New York City. The new Holmes drama, which was most likely conceived to cash in on the popularity of the BBC’s very successful Sherlock as well as the Robert Downey, Jr. Sherlock Holmes films, is being written and executive produced by Robert Doherty (Medium), with Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman (A Gifted Man) as co-executive producers.

Baby Big Shot, a legal drama written by Franklin & Bash‘s Dana Calvo, is the second pilot announced by CBS. Kevin Falls, Jamie Tarses, and Julia Franz will be the executive producers.

There is no word on casting yet for either show.
