Like father like son, apparently. The CW has cast John Wesley Shipp in the role of Barry Allen’s father, it was revealed yesterday.
Shipp, is of course, the actor who first took on the role of Barry Allen in the short-lived CBS TV series The Flash back in the ’90s.
Shipp will play Henry Allen, father of Barry/The Flash (Grant Gustin) in the CW’s upcoming series, debuting this Fall.
In a statement yesterday, executive producer Greg Berlanti said “Given his history with The Flash, [executive producers] Andrew [Kreisberg], Geoff [Johns] and I could only think of one person we wanted to play Barry’s father and that was John Wesley Shipp. He gives a fantastic and emotional performance in the pilot and we are looking forward to his presence in many more episodes.”
