Star Trek fans may have to wait a little longer for that sequel.
G.I. Joe: Retaliation has officially bumped the next Trek movie from its June 29th release spot, the date originally earmarked by Paramount for the Star Trek sequel. Following the news that the movie is not filming this year, a winter 2012 or even Sumer 2013 release date looks increasingly likely.
J.J. Abrams is currently working with Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof on the movie’s script with production likely to roll in January.
Although Abrams has not yet formally committed to the project, Paramount has exercised its option on the cast, including Chris Pine (Kirk) and Zachary Quinto (Spock).
