John Barrowman has confirmed he is working on a Torchwood novel, due for publication later this year. Barrowman told the Boston Herald in a recent interview that he and his sister Carole were working on the project together and teased fans with the prospect the book would include both past and present Torchwood characters.
Barrowman is also busy with several other non-Torchwood related projects including Tonight’s the Night, a popular British series he both hosts and produces, in which he travels around the country making people’s performance dreams come true. He also beings a musical tour in the UK later this year.
However busy Barrowman may be with ancillary projects, his loyalty to Torchwood is absolute. “As long as I am able to play Captain Jack and they want me to play Captain Jack, I will play Captain Jack because I absolutely love it. I adore it. It’s changed my life,” Barrowman told the Boston Herald. “It’s the best job in the world.”
The new season of Torchwood, entitled Torchwood: Miracle Day airs in the US on July 8th, and in the UK on July 14th. Barrowman assured fans that the new bigger budget Torchwood was still the same show in essence. “We’re still the same edgy ‘Torchwood,’ still have the edgy characters and story lines that people seem to like. It wasn’t like a shock to the system. Our really core audience are not going to feel that. They are going to feel like it just picks up right where it left off.”
Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Could the novel be a way for fans to see deceased fan favorite Ianto Jones return from the grave? And if not Ianto, which other characters would you like to see?
