Officially announced yesterday, Nathan Fillion’s The Rookie comes to ABC this fall.
The new character driven ‘light’ procedural drama, in the same vein as Fillion’s previous work on Castle, follows John Nolan, the oldest rookie in the LAPD.
At an age where most are at the peak of their career, Nolan casts aside his comfortable, small town life and moves to L.A. to pursue his dream of being a cop.
Now, surrounded by rookies twenty years his junior, he must navigate the dangerous, humorous and unpredictable world of a “young” cop, determined to make his second shot at life count.
The Rookie is from the Mark Gordon Company and ABC Studios, and reunites Fillion with his Castle executive producer/co-showrunner Alexi Hawley. Hawley also takes writing credit for the show, which is supposedly based on a true story
Co-starring in the new series are Alyssa Diaz as Angela Lopez, Richard T. Jones as Sergeant Wade Grey, Titus Makin as Jackson West, Mercedes Mason as Captain Zoe Andersen, Melissa O’Neil as Lucy Chen, Afton Williamson as Talia Bishop and Eric Winter as Tim Bradford.
