Prison Break is coming back as a limited run series, FOX revealed today during their portion of The Critics Association Press Tour.
The news came today from Dana Walden and Gary Newman, Chairmen and CEOs of Fox Television Group.
Both Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell will reprise their roles as brother Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows.
Additionally, in keeping with the tone of the original series, the original producing team of Paul T. Scheuring, Neal Moritz, Marty Edelstein and Dawn Olmsted are also officially on board.
The original action drama centered on a young man (Miller) determined to prove his convicted brother’s (Purcell) innocence and save him from death row by hatching an elaborate plan to escape from prison.
A breakout success in its premiere season, Prison Break garnered Golden Globe Award nominations for Best Television Series – Drama and Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama (Miller), as well as winning the People’s Choice Award for Favorite New TV Drama before ending its four season run in May 2009.
Additional details on the new event series will be announced at a later date.
