If you’ve been keeping up with our San Diego Comic Con Shadowhunters updates over Twitter today, then you’ll already know that Sarah Hyland’s mysterious guest role is none other than the Seelie Queen herself.
The news came today during the Shadowhunters panel, which featured a Q&A with the cast (Katherine McNamara, Dominic Sherwood, Alberto Rosende, Emeraude Toubia, Matthew Daddario, Isaiah Mustafa, and Harry Shum Jr.) and also executive producers Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer.
Hyland is set to play an older iteration of the devious Seelie Queen in the August 7 and August 14 episodes of the series.
A sneak peek clip, shown during the panel and now featured below, sees a desperate Simon (Alberto Rosende) reaching out to Hyland’s Queen in search of help. However when Simon discovers the Seelie Queen’s plans don’t exactly align with his own, he is inspired to speak plainly in the hope of securing peace. Let’s just say the conversation doesn’t exactly go over well with the queen, who is unused to being rejected!
Also of note is Alisha Wainwright’s (werewolf Maia), upping to series regular for the upcoming third season.
Shadowhunters continues Mondays at 8:00 – 9:00 p.m. EDT on Freeform, with episodes are available on the Freeform app and Freeform.com (at same date and time).
