NBC’s Reverie won’t be returning for a second season (the trippy series has been revealed as officially cancelled today) but series star Sendhil Ramamurthy is not leaving the peacock network any time soon.
Ramamurthy is set to have a major recurring role on NBC’s freshman medical drama New Amsterdam, appearing as a new doctor alongside Ryan Eggold’s Max Goodwin.
New Amsterdam follows the trials and tribulations of the new chief of a run down and neglected city hospital choked by neglect and bureaucracy. Goodwin, who has a personal past with the hospital, now aims to turn its fortunes around from the ground up.
However a complicated history with his estranged wife and a cancer diagnosis soon challenge Goodwin’s sense of can do, and he finds himself relying more and more on the core team of experts he has handpicked to help shape his vision.
Ramamurthy’s stint on New Amsterdam will reunite him with the series creator and executive producer David Schulner and with writer Erika Green, with whom he previously worked on Reverie.
Ramamurthy’s TV credits also include Covert Affairs and Heroes.
