Her friends and allies are forced to adjust to life without Clary when Shadowhunters returns to Freeform on Feb. 25.
However, for some that adjustment seems impossible.
In the first of 2 new sneak peeks clips from the mid-season premiere, a short time jump from the traumatic events of the May 15 mid-season finale finds Jace playing it fast and loose in his pursuit of a dangerous Downworlder, even going so far as to separate himself from fellow Shadowhunters Izzie and Alec when their quarry seeks to make good on his escape through the sewers.
Shocked that Jace would deliberately put his life in danger, the pair have strong words for their friend. But it seems Jace is so consumed by guilt over Clary’s demise, and his role in it, that he is unable to think beyond his pain.
“If it wasn’t for me Clary would still be alive,” he admits, stunning them both into silence.
Meanwhile, in clip 2, an equally distraught Simon seeks to rid himself of the Mark of Cain, which he feels is responsible for Clary’s death. (There’s a lot of manly guilt to go around on February 25, guys!).
Not even the reappearance of Maia can coax the Daylighter to leave his apartment.
Clip 3 features a somewhat happier scene. Making some adjustments of his own (including the struggle to achieve a perfect line without using magic), Magnus is determined to look on the bright side. An evening babysitting Madzie with Alec seems like the perfect domestic setup. Let’s hope nothing goes horribly wrong. (Clip 3 is brought to you by @GLAAD.)
