Star Trek: Discovery finally has a premiere date.
The new series will premiere with a special broadcast on CBS at 8:30 pm on Sunday, Sept. 24.
Thereafter, the following episodes will be available to stream on CBS All Access. Following the premiere episode, all new episodes will be released weekly on Sundays, exclusively on CBS All Access.
An initial 15-episode first season is set to roll out in two chapters, with the first 8 episodes running from Sunday, Sept. 24 through Sunday, Nov. 5, and the second chapter picking up in January 2018.
The new series stars Walking Dead’s Sonequa Martin-Green as First Officer Michael Burnham, Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter) as Captain Lorca and Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) as Captain Philippa Georgiou.
CBS promises that the series will follow the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new lifeforms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself.
Fans can expect a new ship, new characters and new missions, but also the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired the original series.
Star Trek: Discovery will also be distributed concurrently by CBS Studios International on Netflix in 188 countries and in Canada on Bell Media’s Space channel and OTT service CraveTV.
