Jason Isaacs (the Harry Potter franchise) is the latest name attached to CBS All Access’ upcoming Star Trek: Discovery.
Isaacs “major” role as Captain Lorca was revealed today. However, CBS is keeping further details under wraps for now. What we do know is that unlike Picard, Janeway, Cisco et al, the new series will break with tradition by centering on a lieutenant (The Walking Dead’s Sonequa Martin-Green) over the ship’s captain as its main protagonist.
Isaacs is the latest talent to sign up, following in the footsteps of James Frain, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp and Michelle Yeoh and others.
The series will feature a new ship, new characters and new missions, while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers, according to the Network.
Star Trek: Discovery will premiere on the CBS Television Network with all subsequent episodes available on CBS All Access.
The series is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout, Bryan Fuller’s Living Dead Guy Productions and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, Bryan Fuller, Heather Kadin, Gretchen J. Berg & Aaron Harberts, Akiva Goldsman, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth serve as executive producers.
Star Trek: Discovery is currently in production.
