Like an unfortunate case of toxic masculinity Suits returns this week, post Mike and Rachel's emotional departure, to emphatically let us all know "I'm not crying! You're crying!"

In fact there are so many adversarial moments of testosterone-fuelled one-upmanship in the premiere episode you'd be forgiven for thinking last season's dreamy, heartfelt and romantic finale was just that. A dream. Dry those tears! It's back to business -- and then some.

Guys, can't we all just make nice for once? Apparently not. The season 8 premiere finds Harvey and Robert going at it -- playfully at first -- as they spar over who will lead the firm going forward.

Lines are good-naturedly drawn, stances formed, and bluffs called, as each throws his hat in the ring. The one thing both men can readily agree on however is that the name Litt will not be a contender any time soon.

However, as their competitive natures begin to run away with them, both Robert and Harvey find themselves thrown into a pitched battle the firm could really do without right now.

We've seen the episode a little early, thanks to our friends at USA Network, and have a couple of teasers to share with you below. As always, we avoid any outright spoilers that would ruin the various surprises, twists and turns the premiere contains. If you'd like to learn more about our Spoiler Policy, you can do so by following the link in this sentence.

Harvey Without Mike

The angry season 8 premiere episode wants us to know it means business. The kind Harvey likes to win.

However, without Mike present to temper his friend’s deep rooted need to come out on top every time, Harvey soon finds himself swimming in suspect waters and making enemies where perhaps he shouldn’t?

You should listen to Donna’s advice, Harvey.
