The Terminator franchise has received a Star Trek-like reboot in Terminator: Genisys.
Set in the year is 2029, resistance leader John Connor (Jason Clarke), bravely continues the war against the machines, as in the original movies plot line.
At the Los Angeles offensive, John’s fears of the unknown future begin to emerge when TECOM spies reveal a new plot by SkyNet that will attack him from both fronts; past and future, and will ultimately change warfare forever.
When Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) volunteers to go back in time to save John’s mother and ultimately John himself, Connor agrees.
However when Reese makes the trip into the past to protect an inexperienced and frightened Sara Connor (Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke) he quickly discovers that he has landed in an alternate timeline where things aren’t exactly the same this time around.
Arnold Schwarzenegger will be back (sorry) as Sara’s long time companion and protector whose own journey into the past to prepare her for the coming apocalypse predates Reese’s.
Why do we need you again, Reese?
The film also stars Matt Smith, Byung-Hun Lee and JK Simmons.
Alan Taylor directs.
Terminator: Genisys opens July 1 2015 in the US.
