First look photos from the season 2 premiere of NBC’s This is Us are finally here.
The show returns Sept. 26 with 18 new episodes, and a season 3 renewal already in the bag. (Take that other shows!)
While we’re relieved Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) didn’t go out in a fiery car crash in last season’s finale, we were left with the uncomfortable feeling Jack and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) had broken their marriage beyond repair. The addition of Jon Huertas as a series regular this season means we’ll all be seeing a lot more of Miguel … but does that spell trouble for the beleaguered couple?
Meanwhile, as with last year’s premiere, when we first meet the Big Three again it will be party season, as Kevin, Kate and Randall celebrate their 37th birthday. The season ahead will address the threads left dangling when we last checked in. Kate will explore her burgeoning singing career, while Kevin begins work on his war movie with co-star Sylvester Stallone. And Randall hits a stumbling block, in the form of Beth, in his efforts to adopt a child in the aftermath of his birth father’s death.
With the show promising to go deeper into the past and further into the future, NBC describes all our future tears as follows:
Everyone has a family. And every family has a story. This Is Us chronicles the Pearson family across the decades: from Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) as young parents in the 1980s to their 37-year-old kids Kevin (Justin Hartley), Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Randall (Sterling K. Brown) searching for love and fulfillment in the present day. This grounded, life-affirming dramedy reveals how the tiniest events in our lives impact who we become, and how the connections we share with each other can transcend time, distance and even death.
This is Us returns on Tuesday September 26, (9-10 p.m. ET) on NBC.
