Is Toby dead? That’s the question fans have been asking ever since NBC’s This Is Us saw Kate’s boyfriend keel over at a Christmas party at Randall Pearson’s house.
Of course, the episode in question was the show’s 10th, and also a mid-season finale, so it stands to reason some large event would keep us on our toes over the holiday hiatus. But still! Toby!
In the following video interviews the Big Three (aka Kate’s Chrissy Metz, Randall’s Sterling K. Brown and Kevin’s Justin Hartley) take a moment to address the show’s phenomenal success — a “beautiful risk” as described by Metz, how their real lives mirror their characters, and their individual hopes for Kate, Kevin and Randall going forward. Oh and that thorny question surrounding Toby’s status.
This is Us returns to NBC tonight, Tuesday January 10 (09:00PM – 10:00PM) with an episode titled “The Right Thing to Do.” (Photos here if you missed them)
NBC teases that our first episode of the new year will see Kate struggling with her feelings in the aftermath of Toby’s heart attack. Additionally, when Olivia unexpectedly resurfaces, both Kevin and Sloane are thrown for a loop.
Meanwhile, as William begins to spend more time with Jesse, Randall has to get used to his father’s new relationship.
And in the past, after receiving the news they’re expecting triplets, Jack and Rebecca must find a way to afford a home that can accommodate three babies.
