The Walking Dead’s Governor AKA David Morrissey will join the cast of CBS’ Extant this summer.
Morrissey, who joins the recently announced Jeffrey Dean Morgan, will take on the role of General Tobias Shepherd, head of the global security commission, according to THR.
Extant follows Molly Woods, an astronaut who returns from a solo mission in space to discover she is pregnant with an alien hybrid. During season one, Molly learned that her child was the vanguard of a planned alien invasion, sent to earth to learn about Humanity.

However her hybrid chid’s humanity may just be Earth’s only hope for survival.
Shepherd is described as a celebrated general, charming, political, known and respected for making the tough calls of wartime, and standing by them — even when they are morally ambiguous. He has a personal history with Molly (Halle Berry), a fact that complicates his work (and his life) in the face of a deadly new threat to humanity.
Extant returns summer 2015 on CBS.
