Wonder Woman Series In the Works at the CW?

There’s no denying the CW knows how to crank out a good superhero origin story. By the time Smallville ended its ten season run it had become both the longest-running comic book-based series and the longest-running North American science fiction series in television history. Not bad innings. And although it may be a little early yet to pronounce Arrow a success, early pilot reviews have been mostly positive.
Vulture reports today that the Network is currently circling a new Wonder Woman origin TV series, with Allan Heingberg taped to write the script. Heinberg is no stranger to either the CW or to the comic book world, having both written Wonder Woman comics and also the CW series Gilmore Girls.
It’s been almost a year since the last Wonder Woman project (from David E. Kelley for NBC) failed at the starting gate. Can the CW succeed in presenting a superhero in star-spangled knickers and thigh-high boots and still expect to hang onto its predominantly female audience? Let’s hope so.
