TV REVIEW: Emily Goes Full “Disclosure” in Tonight’s Revenge

Revenge went full throttle crazy in last night’s installment “Disclosure,” showing us again that Sunday is the night for pure entertainment and fun. That’s the draw of Revenge. It knows what it is, what it’s not, and delivers the “just for thrills” ride week after week. Much was disclosed; Emily admitted she is Amanda, David showed his crazy eyes, Daniel and Margot made sweet villain love, and Nolan brought Simon Le Bon’s hair back.

Reunited and It Feels So… Creepy

Victoria wakes up and David still looks the same and still sounds like Batman. He demands to know if she was a victim herself. V says she was scared and didn’t have a choice. She says, “I regretted that moment ever since.” He caresses her face, then starts kissing, I mean, choking her. Victoria wakes up, all of it just a nightmare. She’s actually in the back of a van with David Clarke driving.

When the back opens, Victoria karate kicks Clarke in the face. She runs through the woods to the busiest dirt road I’ve ever seen. A pickup won’t stop for her and she almost gets run over by a semi. David tackles her. He leads her through a wet, dank, and dark building to a room that looks like something out of Dark Knight Rises (remember, he sounds like Batman).

David needs to know … “Did you betray me?” She makes up an excuse about Conrad threatening her, threatening her children. “You were always the love of my life David. Always. “

We know that David’s been obsessing over Victoria all these years, but he’s vague on the details. He says he needs to protect his daughter, Charlotte. It soon becomes clear that he thinks Amanda is dead, not realizing Emily is Amanda. Uh oh.

Victoria’s got her angle now. You can almost see those wheels turning. He says in his best Batman voice, “I know it’s a lot, but we can get through it.” It’s a little incredulous that he thinks he can go back to a “them” after all of these years. Even more incredible is that Victoria doesn’t put a pillow over his face like she did to our beautiful Aiden Mathis (sigh). She convinces him that there won’t be an “it” to get through unless she’s freed. He confesses he still loves her and leads her out of his dungeon of darkness.

Daniel and Margaux Thick as Thieves

Just when you think Daniel can’t get any smarmier, he does. Emily has her hoodie; you know she’s going black ops when that gets thrown over the hair. Apparently, Daniel’s got the beard. The bushier the beard, the darker the operation. Tonight, he’s busy cutting tires, Gideon tires. They’re like Goodyear with a Margaux connection.

Margaux’s little brother gets set up twice in “Disclosure.” The first time by the once bumbling Danny boy at a big lunch. The former sweet boy exudes sleaze as he oversees Gideon being caught with drugs at his high powered lunch date.

Margaux may get daddy’s company yet. Sis takes Gideon to the airport, saying she’s set up a make-up meeting with the guy from the lunch disaster. She’s set up something alright. Drug dogs sniff around Gideon’s backpack, and we know where this is going. Drugs have conveniently been sewn into the lining. Margaux watches, smiling brightly while Gideon’s arrested and led away. Daniel and her reunite in a super slimey make out session, a bond seemingly formed over mutual goals, not any true attraction.

Charlotte is the New Vicky

Charlotte does her mom proud tonight, turning from her usual whiny weakling into a would be killer.

Before she comes out as a ruthless B, Charlotte climbs atop a building, threatening to jump in Gaga proportion stilettos. She’s teetering on the ledge ready to take that leap. Emily happens to be there and tries talking her down. Jack’s partner comes in outta nowhere and saves her.

Jack leads Charlotte to Emily’s place, saying, “ just stay and listen.”

“The doctor was right. You should be with family right now.” Emily admits she kidnapped Charlotte “but for all the right reasons. I’m your sister, Charlotte. I’m Amanda.”

The happy little reunion doesn’t go according to Em’s plans. Charlotte asks, “Why didn’t you tell me.” She’s not falling for Emily’s explanation of wanting to protect her. Emily shows Charlotte the secret dad chest with the journals. “Maybe it will help you understand why I did the things I did.”

Charlotte is furious, saying, “You chose revenge over me.” She throws the daddy box down, saying she won’t forgive her. Well, that went well.

The Power Couple

Emily and Nolan are the power couple of Revenge, and in “Disclosure” they give us some of those BFF moments we love and expect. Just go run away and be happy for once, you two. Sadly, not tonight. You better make it soon, you two (remember Aiden).

After Charlotte’s “you chose revenge over me” exit, Emily’s reminiscing about dad, holding the box, talking to bestie, Nolan.

“When he was tucking me in, you know what he said. I love you infinity times infinity.”

Nolan tries to assure her that Charlotte will come around. Eventually. Like in a hundred years. Maybe it won’t take that long after all. Charlotte calls asking for an Emily meeting.

The half sisters meet at Jack’s bar where Charlotte hands Em a letter saying it was easier to write it all down. While Emily is reading, Charlotte smacks her in the back of the head with something. Wait, did the shovel just make a return? Mama Grayson couldn’t have done it any better. It’s amazing how much more interesting Charlotte is when she’s knocking Emily out.

Here We Go…

The new revengenda is set. After the season premiere, it seemed that Emily had achieved all that she wanted, revenge over. Not so fast. There’s a new sheriff in Revengetown and his name’s David Clarke.

David takes Victoria on a drive. It’s confession time again with Victoria admitting her life has been ruined by one person.

“I cannot entertain a future with you until she’s been stopped.” says Vicky, reeling David in.

“Tell me who it is,” he pleads, swallowing that hook whole.

“Her name is Emily Thorne.”

The final scene shows that David may not get his crack at this Victoria-hating woman. Emily’s tied up with Charlotte setting Jack’s bar on fire. So glad he got that back-up cop job.

“Goodbye sis,” Charlotte says as she slo-mo’s it out of there in her red nightgown, channelling her inner Victoria. Mom would be so proud.

So much happened tonight with all of our crazy cast of characters, but perhaps most important was the set-up not of Gideon, but of this whole season four. A name change will not be in order because Revenge will still be about getting revenge. This time it looks like David Clarke will be breaking out his red Sharpie and trying to cross out the one name on his list – Emily Thorne.

What did you think of “Disclosure?” Did the whole Charlotte growing a pair come out of nowhere or was it a long time coming? Does the Daniel/Margaux pairing induce excitement or vomit? And most importantly, who wore it better? Their hair, of course. The new do’s were back with Nolan’s reaching epic Duran Duran proportions and Margaux’s extending to a new level of Dutch boy elegance. See you next week, Revengers, when we’ll get to see if Ems makes it out of the burning bar inferno alive (duh).

Revenge airs Sundays on ABC at 10 p.m.

Random Notes

Is there anything funnier than Jack with his super exciting new cop job pointing a radar gun at speeding cars.

Jack seems overly concerned with hunky partner’s shoulder. “You landed pretty hard.” Hmmm, every show’s going with the partners as more than partners. Just saying.

Best scene of the night… another Top Gun outing with half naked cops sauntering around their locker area. Is this going to be a thing? I feel like it’s becoming a thing. Hunky partner admits he’s taken his share of taser shots in training. Just for fun. I know I’m impressed. He also admits he’s interested in Emily. Jack looks mighty jealous.
