5 Netflix Originals Worth The Bandwidth This February

The on-demand streaming media guru gives its viewers a lot to sink their eyes in this February. For foodies, artists, musicians, designers and girlfriends, these Netflix Originals will be worth all the soda, chips and bandwidth.

1. SANTA CLARITA DIET

In this comedy, Drew Barrymore and Justified actor Timothy Olyphant star as married discontented L.A. Realtors Sheila Hammond and Joel Hammond. In the daily grind of showing houses and closing deals, Sheila survives by strictly following her one-of-a-kind diet – red meat (and yes, humankind included). In the series opener, Sheila is not feeling well and cannot feel her heartbeat only to find out that she is undead. To the Hammond’s, “The family that slays together, stays together.” Santa Clarita Diet is set to premiere on February 3.

2. DAVID BRENT: LIFE ON THE ROAD

Ricky Gervais wrote, directed and produced this mockumentary comedy about David Brent, a character Ricky played in BBC TV Comedy The Office. In the show, a camera crew catches up with David and now begins to live his dream of becoming a rock star. Rob Jarvis, Abbie Murphy, Ben Bailey Smith and Andy Burrows star alongside Ricky. The first run will be shown on February 10.

3. ABSTRACT: THE ART OF DESIGN

Be inspired with Netflix’s latest docu-series that delves into the world of the creative geniuses in art, architecture, fashion, cars and so much more. The series will give its viewers a walk through in the creative process of art and the science of design with the minds of great designers. This artistic documentary that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival will be available to Netflix subscribers on February 10.

4. I AM SUN MU

North Korean Renegade Sun Mu takes his plight to art, creating political pop art based on his homeland, his life and the possibility of a united Korea. Sun Mu, a pseudonym that means, “no boundaries, never reveals his true identity throughout the film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “the onetime propaganda artist for the Kim regime puts a subversive spin on cheery socialist realist imagery since he escaped North Korea in the 90’s. His work is a parody of the dictator’s rule. I Am Sun Mu airs on February 1.

5. GIRLFRIEND’S DAY

Set to premiere on Valentine’s Day, Romance writer Ray tries to relive his glory days as the king of greeting card writers by entering a contest to author the perfect greeting card for Girlfriend’s Day. Things, however, just plainly turns out bad as he gets entangled in murder and deceit. Bob Odenkirk, Natasha Lyonne, Amber Tamblyn and June Diane Raphael star in this comedy drama.
