Assassin's Creed TV Show Possibly In Development With Netflix

In 2016, there was an unfortunate continuation of video game to movie adaptations failing at the box office with a multitude of reviewers mauling the “Assassin’s Creed” film. Despite a stellar cast, hugely expensive CGI, and a fanbase so big, the film was a certified failure. It’s potential sequel is hanging by a thread, as Regency and Ubisoft is still willing to follow through with a franchise, but it definitely isn’t looking good for Assassin’s Creed. But recent reports show that we may have not seen the last of “Assassin’s Creed” on screen.

Ubisoft Head of Content Announces Assassin’s Creed TV Show

Things might still be hopeful for Assassin’s Creed, however. The franchise might still have a shot at another adaptation as Ubisoft is looking to develop “Creed” into a TV Series.

As reported by Screenrant, Ubisoft Head of Content Aymar Azaizia answered a couple of queries through a Reddit AMA. When asked about the next installment of Assassin’s Creed, Azaizia confirmed everything by saying that a Creed series is in the works, but did not give further details on the project. “It’s like the movie guys, we will take our time, to get sure we deliver something we can be proud of, but if you wonder if it’s on our plan… YES.” Azaizia stated.

Netflix As Possible Studio

Back in November last year, Ubisoft had said that they were looking to partner with streaming giant Netflix as the company was “in talks” to develop the series. CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed this news, but didn’t dive into too much detail about it being a live-action series or animated.

Both are possibilities, with live-action being more expensive than animation and more likely to bring in more audiences. If ever this project is being done with Netflix, then Assassin’s Creed would be joining Netflix’s successful roster of live-action comic book adaptations.
