Beyonce Raises Support For Hurricane Relief In Mexico And Carribean With New Song "Mi Gente"

On Thursday night, Beyonce announced via Instagram that the proceeds of her new song, “Mi Gente,”will go to hurricane and earthquake victims in the Carribean communities, as well as those in Mexico. The song is a remix to J. Balvin and Willy William’s hit, “Mi Gente.” It is the first single and music video she released since giving birth in June.
Beyonce states that there are many ways to help the families around the world who have been devastated by the series of earthquakes and hurricanes.  She specifically mentioned donating to charities helping victims of Hurricanes Harvey, Maria and Irma. These charities include UNICEF Disaster Relief, Tidal X Brooklyn, Carribbean Emergency Management Association (CEMA), Tim Duncan Relief Fund, One America Appeal, Somos Una Voz, you Caring (Ricky martin Foundation for Puerto Rico), Bread of Life, and Greater Houston Community Foundation.

“Mi Gente” Lyrics Encourages Disaster Stricken Areas

Bustle reports that the lyrics to “Mi Gente” speak of encouragement and hope, specially to Puerto Rico, Mexico and Texas. More specifically a line in the song says, “Lift up your people, from Texas, Puerto Rico, dem Islands to Mexico.” It is an anthem of love from Bey’s heart that wants to give back to the community. Anyone who downloads the track will be giving to a worthy cause. She expresses how heartbroken she is  with what has been going on and would like to lend a hand to those who need it most.
Beyonce has always been speaking out for and directly helping causes she cares about.  She donated proceeds from the Formation Tour to the Flint water crisis in Michigan and in February, she expressed her all-out support to transgender youth via her Facebook page. Lending her voice for the greater good has always been in Bey’s DNA. This is one of the many reasons why the world loves her back.
