Harry Styles Sign Of The Times Loses Streams On First Hours Due To Spotify Lapse

It’s been a while since the 1D fandom invaded the Twitter feed. It’s a sight to see– Directioners from all over the world are back to defend their curly-haired prince. From what exactly? Well, from the injustice of glitches and uncounted streams.

Sign of the Times go missing in Spotify

Last Friday, April 7, Harry Styles’ solo debut single “Sign of the Times” was released on Spotify. Instantly, anticipating listeners rushed to open their Spotify apps to stream the track. And Lo and behold, it was out of sight. It wasn’t exactly searchable, but the album label was there, but the track itself was nowhere to be seen.

It was not Spotify’s best moment. And it definitely wasn’t for brownie points from their listeners. People were pretty infuriated with what happened because Harry Styles may not land the Number One spot on the charts.

Spotify makes it up to Users

After a few hours, Spotify finally resolves the issue. They tweeted their apology as seen below. But it seems as though it’s not enough because people want the lost streams back. Tweets from fans are asking Spotify to include the missed streams in Harry’s total count so that he could still top the charts. Will they do it? Who knows.

In their attempt to help their users out, their twitter account Spotify Cares is now actively responding to all concerns regarding missing Harry Styles soundtracks.

Can Harry Styles also gain Zayn Malik’s Most Streamed label?

It’s definitely possible. Sign of Times has had several praises from their listeners, including celebrities like Zedd, Olly Murs and Coldplay’s Chris Martin. But again, the thousands of possible streams could have immensely helped lift the soundtrack as Number One. Maybe even ensuring its rightful seat as first place.

In 2016, his former bandmate Zayn Malik’s solo debut single Pillowtalk got the Most Streamed label on Spotify in the United States, United Kingdom, and Globally. This Friday, April 14, is judgment day for Harry Styles’ eerie classic rock ballad. Better cross your fingers!
