'Jane The Virgin' Season 4, Episode 3 'Chapter Sixty-Seven' Recap: Time Warps And Meeting The Kids [SPOILERS]

“Jane The Virgin” is a big fan of time warping. In Season 4, episode 3, they make use of the time warp again to skim through scenes and get down to the point. Timing is a big theme for this week’s episode. Jane thinks it might be time for Adam to meet Mateo, but Rafael is not happy with the idea. Meanwhile, Rogelio and Darci butt heads once again about the birth of their child.
This week’s “Jane The Virgin” also mentions Michael and her new book. Jane has been receiving a few book cover arts she doesn’t like. It’s an interesting week for Jane and a lot of time warping to make sure the pacing isn’t too fast or too slow.

Awkward First Meet With The Kid

Jane and Adam devised an eight week plan when meeting Mateo for the first time. Because Jane wants to make sure he leaves a good impression on her son. Unlike her previous experiences meeting her mother’s ex-boyfriend’s in the past. But honestly, who makes a sandwich in the dark? Anyone would be scared to find a strange man in the kitchen holding a knife.
But before officially meeting her son, Jane and Adam decide to have some fun. Because of her broken leg, she cannot do her usual routine of taking Mateo to pre-school or out for lunch. She then spends her time with Adam. Of course, their time together is on a strict schedule. But time was not on their side. While Jane and Adam were about to get hot and heavy, Mateo walks in. Like any young boy who catches a strange man on top of his mother, he punches Adam. Not really the first impression Jane wanted to make.
The awkward meet had Jane and Rafael at each other’s throats again. But with the time warp, the narrator fast forwarded to the end of their argument. Rafael agreed to meet Adam but he was still unimpressed by Adam’s laid back persona. So, Jane set up a baseball date for Mateo and Rafael to get to know Adam. Mateo warmed up to Adam enough for Rafael to trust him to babysit Mateo.

Getting The Marbella Back

Rafael is up to his old tricks, sleeping his way to an agreement. After getting his heart broken by Petra, Rafael decided to sleep with Kathrine Cortes to get his hotel back. But his new fling isn’t up for just sleeping with him. She wants something serious and asks to meet his kids. This infuriates both Jane and Petra. But he could care less of what both of his exes think about his actions. For Rafael, he is doing what he can to win back his hotel and his money for his family.

Meanwhile, Petra makes a deal with her sister Aneska and her mother after finding out that Luisa has been cheating them out on their deal—1 million Czech Republic currency and not 1 million dollars. Hoping to cut a better deal, Petra’s mother blackmails Petra about Rafael’s plan, not wanting to lose out on her hotel she worked so hard to build. Petra promises both her mother and Aneska 10 percent of the shares as long as they both board the first plane to the Czech Republic once the deal for the hotel has been made. Petra enables Rafael to continue the sham of a relationship with Kathrine to guarantee their hotel shares.
So all seems to be going well for the Solanos in getting their hotel back. Sure, it involves lying and blackmail but as long as their family is safe it’s all good. But Luisa gets a surprise from Rose, as her drug-lord girlfriend sent her a little help. In order to get the Marbella’s shares, Rose sent a man who suggests they burn the Marbella down.

‘Jane The Virgin’ New Beginnings And New Loves

Rogelio’s relationship with Darci gets more complicated when she starts dating his rival Esteban. He tries to tolerate it and dial down his jealousy but when Darci decides for a home birth Rogelio is having none of it. But Xo, being the supportive wife she is, tells Rogelio it’s Darci’s choice. In the end, Rogelio proved he will be there for both Darci and the baby. Plunging in shirtless to help Darci push, we were treated to a heartwarming moment—the birth of Rogelio’s daughter and Jane’s new baby sister.
Good moments aside, the show loves going meta on us. Rogelio explains in one scene that it is not logical to introduce a new love interest so hastily without getting to know him. Though, he is talking about his own telenovela the narrator cuts to a short clip of Adam. Leaving us wondering, if Adam is really right for Jane. For Jane, she wants to give him a chance. She even lets him read her book about Michael. After numerous book art pitches, Adam surprises Jane with the cover he made for her.

It’s a sweet gesture but with the mention of Michael, is Adam the right guy? The gravity of being in a relationship with Jane doesn’t hit him until Mateo spells it out for him. After approving his mother’s new boyfriend, Mateo asks Adam not to hurt Jane. Mateo has seen his mother cry over Michael for so long and he doesn’t want Jane to go through it again. This triggers panic in Adam, does he want to be in this relationship?
The show ends with the question looming over both Adam and the viewer’s heads. Is Adam the right one for Jane?
“Jane the Virgin” returns next Friday with “Chapter 68” at 9/10c on The CW.
