'Marvel's Cloak and Dagger' Season 1, Episode 8 'Ghost Stories' Recap: Memorial

Eight years after the rig’s explosion in  Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger, our heroes live on with their lives. The heroes’ rescue of a catatonic man brings them closer to attaining justice. While some of their family members choose to ignore the significance of the day, others commemorate it in honor of the dead. However, trouble unexpectedly bites back at them. The heroes reach a point of questioning whether or not their fight is worth their lives.

In this week’s episode of Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger, Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) finally confront Roxxon’s CEO, Peter Scarborough (Wayne Péré). Meanwhile, Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) works with Detective Brigid O’Reilly (Emma Lahana) and Officer Fuchs (Lane Miller) to take Connors (J.D. Evermore) down. Later on, Tyrone and Tandy discover a shocking truth about Tandy’s father, Nathan Bowen (Andy Dylan). Meanwhile, Connors sends a chilling message back to Detective O’Reilly.

A Dark Memory

Tandy’s visit to Ivan Hess (Tim Kang) gave her the last piece of evidence she needed to take down Roxxon. When she arrives at the church after visiting Tyrone’s house, she prepares to strike at the heart of Roxxon headquarters. That evening, Tandy infiltrates the premises. As she took out the power, Peter enters the building. Before he could call the maintenance crew, Tandy points her dagger to his throat.

Tandy brings Peter to what could presumably be the building’s basement. She presents her evidence that could put Roxxon out of business. While Peter managed to make Tandy think twice about her decision, Tandy ultimately scares the living daylights out of him. Before she left him bound to his chair, Tandy cuts one of the pillars beside her, making the ceiling unstable.

Tandy, Tyrone, and Tandy’s mother, Melissa Bowen (Andrea Roth) head to the lake in memory of Nathan and Billy. As they held hands, Tandy and Tyrone saw Melissa’s hopes and fears. At first, Melissa watched a video of her and Nathan while he kisses her. Suddenly, the scene changes when they discover Melissa’s fears. It turns out that Nathan was an abusive husband who hurt Melissa for a simple mistake.

After seeing this, Tandy immediately releases the lantern. As Tandy walked back to the church, she decides to call Peter, saying that she will take his money in exchange for the evidence she gathered. In the end, Peter is right. Tandy did not know her father as well as she thought that she did.

Tandy’s emotions clouded her judgment. While what she saw revealed something unknown about Nathan, letting Roxxon win is not the right choice. The fate of Nathan’s reputation remains hidden as a demoralized Tandy decides to run away once more.

When Detective O’Reilly visits Tyrone, he knew that Connors time as a free man is up. After finishing his Billy’s cloak, Tyrone asks for Detective O’Reilly’s help. At first, O’Reilly is skeptical about the plan. However, this changes when Tyrone shows her and Fuchs his ability. That evening, O’Reilly lures Connors into a trap. When they reach the docks, Tyrone starts to appear out of nowhere, masquerading as Billy. O’Reilly pretends not to see him, further convincing Connors that he saw ghosts.

Eventually, Tyrone makes Connors confess his involvement in Billy’s murder. Fuchs videotapes his confession as O’Reilly arrests Connors. At the police station, Connors looks at Fuchs and O’Reilly in disbelief while he was restrained, sitting on a chair. The next day, O’Reilly comes over to Fuch’s house, only to find his dead body kept in a refrigerator. Connors had connections, and he made it clear that he was not someone you wanted to anger.

Something was not right about things going too smoothly. Connor’s payback was something that I expected, but I would never have guessed that he would have Fuchs killed. However, given how Connors cleared his record and took heat over his drug empire, his response was nothing out of the ordinary. Connors was ruthless, and he would do anything to continue his life,
