'Marvel's Cloak and Dagger' Season 1, Episode 9 'Back Breaker' Recap: Fallout

As the show’s season comes to an end, Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger prepare the characters for a final battle. The events that happened previously caused our Heroes to regress into their past lives. The downward spiral calls for them vehemently. However, trouble finds its way back. Not only does it threaten them, but the entire city itself. It is up to our Heroes to rescue themselves and everyone else from impending danger.

In this week’s episode of Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger, Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) finds ways to dull the pain of disappointment. Meanwhile, Detective Brigid O’Reilly (Emma Lahana) deals with Officer Fuch’s untimely death. When Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) and his family receives news about Detective Connors’ (J.D. Evermore) confession about Billy’s murder, they are skeptical. Because of this, a frustrated Tyrone lashes out on everyone.

Flawed Justice

After being sent away from Officer Fuch’s house which was now a crime scene, Detective O’Reilly heads to a bar. The local police force holds a memorial for Fuchs. Unexpectedly, Connors arrives at the bar. An angry O’Reilly hits Connors with a bat that displayed at the bar. However, Connors eventually overpowers and beats her.

Broken and bruised, O’Reilly heads to her police car. As she tends to her wounds, she hears her police radio. The police were on their way to the suspect for Fuch’s murder. Because of this, O’Reilly decides to follow after them.

Tandy’s disappointment reaches great heights. When she could not bear it anymore, she finds other ways to avoid the pain. Tandy starts taking other people’s hopes. Also, she went back to her life of stealing from the rich once more. However, all of this changes when she pays for Liam Walsh’s (Carl Lundstedt) prison bail. Tandy tries to steal Liam’s hopes, too. For some reason, Tyrone appears in the dream. As a result, Tandy confronts Tyrone and tells him to stay out of her head.

Tandy’s confrontation with Tyrone made her rethink what she was doing, so she tries to apologize to Liam. Unfortunately, Liam took off with Tandy’s money, and he even left Tandy’s makeshift shelter in disarray. Seeing that she could not achieve anything, Tandy decides to visit her mother. Unexpectedly, the same person who killed Tandy’s mother’s boyfriend stood there and took her as a hostage. Tandy had no choice but to use her powers against the assailant.

Tyrone’s parents’ reaction to the developments leaves him shattered. Because of this, Tyrone becomes aloof to everyone, even Evita Fusilier (Noelle Renée Bercy). His behavior drives him mad to the point that he picks a fight with one of his classmates. When Father Delgado (Jaime Zevallos) tries to confront him, Tyrone lashes out at him, too. However, when Tyrone sees Delgado’s fears, he apologizes.

Tyrone arrives at his house where his mom, Adina Johnson (Gloria Reuben) talks to him about Billy. She explains the reason why they chose not to push through with the case, despite the new evidence. Tyrone slowly understood their actions, and he finally calms down. However, this moment of peace is interrupted by the police, asking Tyrone to surrender himself for the murder of Officer Fuchs.

Doom

Evita’s encounter with Tandy made her Auntie Chantelle’s (Angela M. Davis) suspicions right. Tandy and Tyrone are the only ones who could save the city from the disaster it had to face. Roxxon’s drilling did not stop at the accident that gave the duo their powers, and now New Orleans was about to face yet another catastrophe. Now that all our Heroes faced danger, so did the city.
