Meghan Markle Signs Disney Voiceover Deal To Save The Elephants

It seems that Meghan Markle is returning back to Hollywood sooner than anybody expected. According to The Times UK, the Duchess of Sussex has signed a deal with Disney to provide the voiceover for a yet unspecified project. And Markle would reportedly be doing it in exchange for a contribution to the wildlife charity Elephants Without Borders which helps track down and protect the gentle giants.

Although the announcement was made just recently, it seems that Markle’s new project has been in the works months prior. According to The Wrap, the deal might’ve had its origins in July at the European premiere of The Lion King which the couple attended as well as Disney CEO Bob Iger.

In a video released by TMZ on Sunday, Prince Harry can be seen chatting with Iger while Markle speaks with Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z. Then, Prince Harry can be heard telling Iger that Markle does voiceovers to which the latter reacts with surprise. “You seem surprised, but yeah, she’s really interested.” Prince Harry continues. What he says next is inaudible. But, at the end of it, Iger replies “We’d love to try.”

The deal comes after the couple’s surprise announcement of their plans to step back as senior members of the British Royal family. In a post on their official Instagram, the couple wrote, “After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.”

According to the post, the couple will be splitting their time between the United Kingdom and North America. This would enable them to raise their son and would give them the space to focus on the launch of a new charitable entity.

In response, the royal family issued a statement on Twitter and on their official website. It reads, “Discussions with The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are at an early stage. We understand their desire to take a different approach, but these are complicated issues that will take time to work through.” Currently, the royal family is set to meet face to face with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry for the first time ever since the announcement has been made.
