Netflix Will Keep Anthony Bourdain's 'Parts Unknown' in Streaming Catalogue

A 61-year-old, chef, writer, and host of Parts Unknown, Anthony Bourdain, was found dead in a hotel room in France last June 8. According to a report by Bloomberg, Bourdain committed suicide and was said that toxicology test was being carried out.

Though the show Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown was already scheduled to depart, Netflix extended the licensing agreement of the show and will continue to air the eight seasons. The streaming service decided to keep the show “for months to come” as a tribute to the late Bourdain.

The incredibly diverse cooking/travel show Parts Unknown even got a petition on Change.org and picked up 6,772 signatures to urge the streaming service to continue having the show on its catalog. “Bourdain lived life like he treated so many of the dishes he consumed. By gnawing it to the bone,” Tanner Palin, who started the petition, said. “So many of us could learn to live just a little more like that. Netflix, this show isn’t just entertaining. It is heartwarming, it is honest, and it benefits humankind.”

Parts Unknown won five Primetime Emmy Awards, including four for Outstanding Informational Series or Special. The awards itself shows how Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown deserves to continue being a part of Netflix’s roster of shows.

A lot of people showed their empathy towards Bourdain and gave him heartwarming messages as they reminisce about Bourdain as their friend, family, and an icon.

“This is how I’ll remember Tony. He taught us about food—but more importantly, about its ability to bring us together. To make us a little less afraid of the unknown. We’ll miss him,” former President Barack Obama said.

On the other hand, Asia Argento, Anthony’s partner, who is being blamed and attacked on social media, released a statement on her Twitter account.
