Netflix Announces Lady Gaga Documentary 'Gaga: Five Foot Two', Airs Next Month

Netflix has just announced a new original documentary to hit their catalog. “Gaga: Five Foot Two,” will focus on Lady Gaga and an unfiltered look at her life during the past year. The singer has gone through a lot of ups and downs. Among them was when she released her new album “Joanne,” the announcement of “A Star Is Born,” her first feature film with Bradley Cooper, her epic Super Bowl performance and recent split with former fiance, Taylor Kinney.

“Gaga: Five Foot Two” is scheduled to premiere on the streaming service next month and is an allusion to Lady Gaga’s short stature. It will be produced by Heather Parry of Live Nation Productions and Bobby Campbell of Mermaid Films. Michael Rapino, Kim Ray, Lisa Nishimura and Benjamin Cotner will serve as executive producers.

Exploring Lady Gaga’s ‘Intimate World’ In ‘Gaga: Five Foot Two’

In a report by Variety, VP of Original Documentaries for Netflix Lisa Nishimura says that “Gaga: Five Foot Two” will allow viewers to put themselves in the shoes of Lady Gaga as they experience the life of the singer’s ‘intimate world.’

“It is a rare moment when one is invited behind the curtain to witness the raw truth of an individual, even more so when that person happens to be one of the most recognizable, influential and scrutinized public figures in culture today. Director Chris Moukarbel deftly brings us into Lady Gaga’s intimate world; allowing us to experience the drive, conflict, passion, complexity and deeply personal creative process behind this singular artist,” Nishimura said.

However, this isn’t the first time that Gaga (Stefani Germanotta in real life) will be featured in a documentary. Back in 2011, “Lady Gaga Presents The Monster Ball” premiered on HBO, and it details the star’s life during her massive concert at Madison Square Garden in New York. It featured pre-concert footage and videos from the actual event. Gaga has also been an amazing TV actress with roles in different shows such as Ryan Murphy’s “American Horror Story.”

“Gaga: Five Foot Two” guarantees a very personal exposition of Gaga’s life. On Instagram, the singer tearfully reveals: “I’m alone every night. And all these people will leave, right? They will leave, and then I’ll be alone. And I go from everyone touching me all day and talking at me all day to total silence.” For sure, this documentary will touch hearts and make all of us cry.

“Gaga: Five Foot Two” premieres September 22nd on Netflix.
