Riverdale Season 2 Episode 15 'There Will Be Blood' Recap: Dividing the Blood Money [SPOILERS]

“Riverdale” needs a change but the Lodge Family isn’t the savior the town needs. The tensions are high between families on this week’s episode. Loyalty is tested, and like the title of the episode suggests, there will be blood. Archie (KJ Apa) learns that his dad is considering running for mayor of Riverdale with the full support of Hiram Lodge (Mark Consuelos). Afraid for his father’s well-being, Archie asks Jughead (Cole Sprouse) to dig a little deeper into Hiram’s shady business. Meanwhile, Betty (Lili Reinhart) becomes increasingly suspicious of Chic’s (Hart Denton) strange behavior, and Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) and Penelope (Nathalie Boltt) learn that Clifford left a secret will.

What is Hiram Lodge planning? Jughead has been digging and digging but to no resolve. Everyone he tried to talk to wouldn’t go on the record against the Lodge Family. They did say money means power and sometimes power envokes fear. Luckily for Jughead his best friend Archie has shaky loyalty. Archie informs Jughead about Hiram buying Pop’s Diner and hopes Jughead could write an article about that piece of information. This leads the young writer into a rabbit hole of illegal property shares and paid silence. Meanwhile, Archie tries to convince his dad not to run for mayor. Fred Andrews (Luke Perry) would only become a pawn for the Lodges to manipulate and that’s the last thing Archie wants.
But it’s hard to pinpoint where Archie’s loyalty truly belongs. He spoke to Josie about her mother, warning Fred about being mayor and leaking information about Hiram’s business. He even kept a journal filled with all the shady things he’s seen during his apprenticeship with Hiram. It almost looks like he is willing to throw his girlfriend’s father under the bus. It wasn’t until Jughead, with the help of Smithers the Lodge’s former doorman, learned about Hiram’s exact plans. It’s revealed that Hiram is building a private prison in Riverdale. But before Jughead could publish his article, the Lodges made sure the Andrews heard their plan first. Fred was smart enough to walk away, but Archie stayed. Despite his friends and family who were disgusted by Hiram’s corrupt plans, Archie chose to have a blood pact.

Catfishing Betty’s Brother

After helping her mother and her long-lost brother dispose of a body, Betty has grown suspicious of Chic. Betty asks Kevin to help her catfish her brother into revealing his secrets. But after four sessions, Kevin told Betty he didn’t want to be a part of her plan. Because it looks like Chic is a good guy but we can’t overlook how creepy his intentions are. He lingers, and he stares as if every wicked thought entered his mind. Even Polly (Tiera Skovbye) didn’t take an immediate liking to her new brother. Chic didn’t like her too; he told Betty most disturbingly that it was better when it was just him, Betty and their mother.

After hearing about the Blossom’s inheritance hearing, Polly finally comes to visit with her twins. To get their share of the inheritance, they would have to prove they have a drop of Blossom blood. Since Chic is their long-lost brother, he too had to take a blood test, but he refuses due to the fact needles trigger him. Betty didn’t buy his excuse. Just like Nancy Drew, Betty used her sleuthing skills to see if Chic was indeed her brother. She rummaged through his trash finding a bloody teeth floss and sent it for testing. The test results show Chic isn’t who he says he is. So if he wasn’t Chic Cooper then who he is?

‘Riverdale’ Welcomes Another Blossom

If there was an award for TV’s most dysfunctional family, the Blossoms could have it. Clifford’s lawyer visited the family, telling them about his will. Even in the grave, Clifford Blossom was meticulous, and he made sure the will would only be revealed when there was no longer an investigation against him. Along with other members of the Blossom clan, the lawyer told them they each had a fair share of whatever Clifford left. Since Cheryl was the next successor, she prepared a speech during the will reading. She hoped the Blossom clan would make peace with one another because blood shouldn’t be shed between family. Then a ghost in the shape of her father appeared, agreeing with Cheryl’s sentiments.

But this isn’t a telenovela where everyone fakes their death. It was only Claudius (Barclay Hope), Clifford’s twin brother. Apparently, there’s a family curse where only one twin would die at the hands of their own. Luckily for Claudius, his brother spared his life. Instead, he joined the Marines and returned to Riverdale when he heard of his brother’s passing. His appearance doesn’t mean the warm family reunion; he came back with a purpose. During the live broadcast of Hermione’s (Marisol Nichols) candidacy for mayor, Claudius wasn’t pleased with the Lodges taking over Riverdale. Penelope tells him that he needs to settle the family business before targeting the Lodges. So fans can expect a Blossom vs. Lodge soon enough.
“Riverdale” continues next Wednesday with “Primary Colors” at 8/7c on The CW.
