Ryan Gosling To Host ‘Saturday Night Live’ Season 43 Premiere, Jay-Z As Musical Guest

“Saturday Night Live,” one of the longest-running late-night comedy shows on US television, will open on a huge musical note once it comes back for Season 43 on September 30. Ryan Gosling of “La La Land,” will host the premiere, with rapper Jay-Z to headline as the musical guest of the night.

Gosling’s hosting stint will line up with the premiere of his upcoming movie with Harrison Ford, “Blade Runner 2049,” on October 6. Jay-Z also released his latest album, “4:44,” back in June of this year.

Ryan Gosling and Jay-Z’s Previous ‘Saturday Night Live’ Appearances

Both showbiz personalities have had their own previous appearances on “Saturday Night Live.” Gosling had his first hosting stint on the late-night show in 2015, in which he infamously broke character midway through a UFO abduction sketch. Meanwhile, Jay-Z has already made 4 guest appearances. The rapper’s latest appearance was in 2010, back when Betty White was the show’s host.

The hit late-night comedy show, which saw one of its best seasons ever with frequent Donald Trump skits, announced the premiere night in a tweet Thursday night.

The photo doesn’t necessarily specify Gosling’s and Jay-Z’s role on the opening night, but based on how varied their talents are, it definitely suggests Gosling as host and the rapper as the musical guest. Thursday night also did another broadcast of “Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update Summer Edition.”

Even with the show’s weekly news broadcast parodies, it’s very likely that “Saturday Night Live” will have plenty of news materials and other current events to work on once Season 43 opens with a bang.
