'Star Wars Rebels' Season 4, Episodes 7 and 8 Recap: The Rebellion Is Ready For Battle [SPOILERS]

Grand Admiral Thrawn has an assassin to capture The Ghost Crew in “Star Wars Rebels” episodes 7 and 8, titled “Kindred” and “Crawler Commanders.” Ezra and his team must trust some seemingly dangerous native creatures, who are far more than meets the eye. The Empire is on their tracks and escapes from Lothal seems almost impossible. Desperate, the Ghost crew pirates a mining vehicle with long-range communications gear. Meanwhile, Kanan and Ezra learn their connections with the Loth Wolves.

‘Star Wars Rebels’ Thawn’s New Imperial Agent

Imperial Agents are trying to track the Ghost Crew and get hold of the stolen hyperdrive. But Grand Admiral Thrawn sends his personal bodyguard to catch Ezra and his team. An alien antagonist by the name of Rukh. The moment he lands on the Defender crash site, Rukh goes after the rebels.
Luckily, Jai spots Rukh, so he and Ezra put on their most convincing Imperial act as he approaches. The Noghri seems convinced until he suddenly attacks Ezra and pulls him to the ground. Jai was unable to knock out Rukh until Ezra uses the force to slam a rock on Rukh’s head. The two teens were able to escape but Thrawn’s bodyguard doesn’t know how to back down.

The two were able to make it to the Rebel Camp. Chopper and Sabine get the hyperdrive ready, but only give it a 50/50 chance of getting the U-Wing to Yavin IV. Not until Rhuk and Pryce arrive in a pair of “Occupier” combat assault tanks. With not a minute to lose, Hera and Chopper run inside the U-Wing to escape the planet. But not without a moment (and what fans have been waiting for), Hera and Kanan share a kiss before taking off. Since Hera and Chopper went ahead, the remaining rebels have very little options of escape routes, until Ezra spots a few Loth Wolves willing to lead them to safety.

Kanan points out earlier on in the episode, they were attracted to Lothal for a reason. Something was pulling him to this planet but it wasn’t made clear until the Lothal wolves came to save them from the Empire when they led the team to the other side of the planet. The caves of the wolves remind Ezra of the Jedi temple of Lothal. Kanan points out to Ezra the wolves have a deep connection to the force as if it has a purpose for saving them. Remember the wolf telling Ezra of doom? Well, they were not predicting the war or any form of danger. Dume, not “Doom,” was Kanan’s name before joining the rebellion.
Kanan realizes the Empire has not only destroyed Lothal’s ecosystem with it’s industrialized machinery but they are also disrupting the force. Kenan feels there is something sinister happening at Lothal. Will “Star Wars Rebels” feature a force-related threat? It’s focus lately have been stirring away from the force-related aspects of the series but with the introduction of the Loth Wolves. Ezra and Kannan’s Jedi storylines will be further explored before “Star Wars Rebels” season finale.

The Rebellion Strikes The Empire

Escaping Lothal and TIE Fighters at her back, Hera jumps to lightspeed and wipes out the Imperials in her path. She lands safely at the Massassi temple and Hera hands the flight recorder to Mon Mothma. But when Mon Mothma, along with the other Rebel leaders, refuses to attack the Empire, Hera offers her assistance and asks for an army to help her. Angered by the refusal, Hera storms into their private meeting telling them to stop plotting and hiding. Their next act of defense should be to fight.

Meanwhile, Ezra and the others are trying to find a ship to escape Lothal. After battling a lizard and other Imperial troops, they were able to take hold of the stolen ship with a transmitter to send a message to the Rebel base. The Crew is happy to hear from Hera. Even more so when she told them The Rebellion is sending in an attack against the Empire on Lothal. Ezra and his team were assigned to lead the ground assault. Excited that finally his planet would be saved from the Empire, Ezra smiles and tells Hera she can count on them.
“Star Wars Rebels” continues next Monday with “Rebel Assault,” 9 PM on Disney XD.
