Taylor Swift To Testify In Groping Case In Denver

Denver will experience a media frenzy following a lawsuit between Taylor Swift and former 98.5KYGO radio host David Mueller.

The case follows an incident back in 2013 where the pop star accused Mueller of groping her during a photo op. Two days after the said event, Mueller was fired. While on the other side of the lawsuit, the ex-radio host accuses Swift of verbal abuse. Meuller also says that he was thrown from the venue by her security after the alleged incident.

Two years after the alleged incident Mueller sued Swift for falsely accusing him of sexual assault. He is seeking up to $3 million in damages. While the pop star countersued him for sexual assault.

On Monday, jurors will be deciding whether or not the accusations against Mueller were true. Taylor Swift is expected to testify in the civil trial in Denver federal court.

It all started back in June of 2013 when she was headlining her Red Tour at the Pepsi Center in Denver. Mueller attended the concert with his then-girlfriend, who asked for a photo with Swift.  During the picture taking, Mueller allegedly reached his hand up Swift’s skirt and grabbed her bare ass.

Immediately after the meet-and-greet, Swift confirmed the sexual assault with a photographer and security staff. The photo of the meet-and-greet was obtained by TMZ.

Swift’s lawyers called the picture of the pop star and Mueller is proof that Mueller inappropriately touched her. The picture will be what the jurors need to determine which party is telling the truth.

The picture shows Mueller having his hand firmly in the area of Swift’s derriere. Many can argue whether or not it is an appropriate place to have your hand positioned.

Court documents say it is unlikely both parties will settle. Swift is seeking verdict that awards her $1 and to hold Mueller responsible for his actions. She wants to serve as an example to other women who have been sexually assaulted.

On the other side, Mueller and his team want the accusations dropped and a settlement of 3 million. His team will have to prove that he was wrongfully terminated due to Swift’s false claims against him.

Before the incident, Mueller was six months into a two-year contract with KYGO. His team has to prove in court that his termination caused civic economic damages.  His attorney, Gabriel McFarland argues that his client may have been misidentified after someone else touched Swift.

The pop star is firm with her story that Meuller intentionally groped her. Swift wanted the matter discreet and quiet.  She has no motive to target the ex-radio host or the need to fabricate a story to stay relevant in the press.

Key Witnesses In The Swift Vs. Mueller Case

Mueller is expected to testify along with other defendants in the lawsuit filed by Mueller. For the alleged incident, there are key witnesses who will corroborate with either party’s story.

Andrea Swift, the pop star’s mother will testify about the decision to contact Mueller’s boss and not the police.

Frank Bell, a member of Swift’s team, will testify about what he said when he contacted Mueller’s bosses at KYGO. Swift’s bodyguard, Greg Dent may be called to testify about what he said during the encounter.

Mueller’s girlfriend at the time, Shannon Melcher, will testify to Mueller’s character and the story behind the photograph.

The verdict falls into the hands of the jury and their interpretation of the photo, as it is the strongest evidence for both parties involved.

Opening statements are expected to begin Tuesday, it is expected the case will last two weeks.
