The Amazing Race Asia Season 5 Winners: Philippine Beauty Queens Maggie And Parul

Philippine beauty queens and models Maggie and Parul won Season 5 of “The Amazing Race Asia,” besting two other teams from the Philippines and Malaysia. The pair arrived first at the final pit stop of the race in Bali, Indonesia.

Yvonne and Chloe, a pair of beauty queens from Malaysia came in second place. The other Philippine team composed of husband and wife team Eric and Rona, were the last to arrive.

Eric and Rona had a good lead at the start of the leg, having finished first in the previous leg. They were able to arrive in Bali ahead of the two other teams, having taken an earlier ferry. While on the island however, the two other teams caught up with them during the second task.

Most of the tasks in this leg of the race required attention to detail such as decorating a bamboo pole according to tradition, and assembling an outrigger boat. The husband and wife pair saw their lead gradually disappear when they spent too much time working on the outrigger boat.

They still managed to get the next clue first, with Maggie and Parul following them, and then Yvonne and Chloe.

#AXNTARA Roadblock: Going Coconuts

All teams encountered difficulties with their taxi drivers, as most of them refused to go fast. This became the equalizer for the race.

The third task which was a memory game that only one team member had to do, was where all the teams had difficulty finishing. A player must arrange three coconuts with names and symbols and these must be done chronologically on a traditional board. To confuse players however, extra coconuts were added to the pile.

Maggie finished the task first, followed by Chloe, leaving behind Rona. Maggie and Parul arrived at the final pit stop where the rest of the teams were waiting to congratulate them.
