‘The Bachelorette’ Season 14, Episode 5 Recap: True Colors Revealed [SPOILERS]

As Becca Kufrin, the humble fan favorite and girl next door from Minnesota returns for a second shot at love, the hopeful Bachelorette is taking a leap of faith to look for her better half once again. But this time, it will be on her terms. Tonight on ABC’s The Bachelorette,  Becca is now halfway through the search for a soulmate. What better place for her to try her luck than in Las Vegas, right? With only 12 candidates left to get Becca’s sweet “I do,” the competition continues to heat up.

Las Vegas Desert

The first date of the week goes to our virgin Bachelor Colton, who comes in wearing a plain blue shirt and jeans. Their activity—riding a camel. As they enjoy their adventure, Becca and Colton ended up in a hot tub in the middle of nowhere.

They continued the date night to a romantic restaurant called Sage. The fancy dinner kicked off by Colton sharing his experience in his last relationship, “a little over a year ago,” which ended sometime after his ex-girlfriend failed to reply “I love you” back.

Colton wants Becca to know that he is very much optimistic and ready to find his soulmate even though he’s only been in love once (and it’s even unreciprocated). With sparks flying and glimmer in his eyes, Colton says, “You’re making it easier for me to take my walls down.”

La la la, Sing!

Wills, Garrett, Blake, John, Connor, Leo, Lincoln, Jason, and Chris dive into the group date and pack into a Hummer Limo en route to Wayne Newton’s Vegas Estate. Of course, since he owns the estate, Newton came in riding in a horse and introduced in slow motion.

Before the bachelors were to take on the singing challenge, Newton shared “Find that thing within you that helps you write lyrics of what you’d like to sing to Becca.”

The men are tasked to rewrite the lyrics to “Danke Schoen,” and they all mostly failed. Chris won the contest by being a charismatic entertainer. He cracked jokes and danced a little.

The group date rose was given to Blake as he was the first guy in the season who meant what he said—that he was falling in love with Becca. Chris, on the other hand, got mad because he was expecting to get the group date rose for his extra effort. Now, he claims to be unnoticed and says that Becca was not interested in him. He also added that he wants to leave the show because of that.

‘The Bachelorette’ Season 14 Eliminations

David and Jordan face off in this two-on-one date as David showed his ugly side. David, afraid of getting taken out of the remaining Bachelors, tells Becca that Jordan isn’t here for the right reasons. He claims that Jordan is just “settling” for Becca. However, David ends up being the first one to be sent home.

Meanwhile, Jordan improperly took the situation and just cursed David saying things like “little bit rat ass motherf****r.” Later on, Jordan shared that he came from a low-income family as he grew up, and also saw his mother go through a mental illness. Despite his sincerity and honesty, Jordan was also sent home.

Finally, Becca keeps Chris and sends John Home.

The Bachelorette Season 14 continues next Monday, July 2nd, at 8/7c on ABC.
