'The Fix' Season 2, Episode 7 'Ghost Whisperer' Recap: Reasonable Doubt

A change of guard happens in The Fix as one attempts to flee. As this new player adjusts to the quirks of the job, another chooses to rest the day. Meanwhile, a defining piece of evidence suspiciously appears. While the lead on the case decides to investigate the jacket further, a relentless stalker moves fast. One can never be so sure of their safety.

On Monday night’s episode of The Fix, Angela Ashley (Skye P. Marshall) makes sure that their case is flawless. Unexpectedly, Detective Vincent North (Robbie Jones) presents Maya Travis (Robin Tunney) and CJ Emerson (Merrin Dungey) suspicious evidence. In his mansion, Severen ‘Sevvy’ Johnson (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) becomes delusional. As River ‘Riv’ Allgood (Marc Blucas) closes in on Maya’s stalker, Leo Foster (Erik Palladino), Buck Neal (Robert Ray Wisdom) encounters Leo as he snooped around Maya’s house.

Alan Wiest (Breckin Meyer) decided to visit Loni Kampoor (Mouzam Makkar) after he learns the truth about the mole in their office. Instead of firing her, he gives her a strange task that suits her skillset. To make Ezra Wolf (Scott Cohen) panic, Alan has Loni call him, informing him about an investigation the FBI is doing on his past cases. Loni’s acting seemed to do the trick as Wolf scrambled to keep his encrypted files and goes as far as having Buck follow Maya around. Buck’s tailing confirms what Wolf thinks as he reports that Maya went to the FBI office.

The media stormed Sevvy’s mansion as soon as the police clear the scene. Lindsay Meyer’s (Molly C. Quinn) break-in made media helicopters flock to the Johnson Residence, making Sevvy anxious. Because of the lack of sleep as well as the distracting media presence, Sevvy decided to take some meds, but he took more than his prescription. As a result, Sevvy has hallucinations of Jessica Meyer (Taylor Kalupa). The visions of Jessica reveal the actual truth of the murder which suggests that Sevvy had some help in killing and covering up his tracks. Sevvy goes as far as calling for Angela’s help, but Charlie (Kj Smith) tells Wolf about the situation instead. As Wolf arrived at the mansion, he finds Sevvy huddled in a corner, unable to tell the difference between reality and his hallucinations.

Detective North called Maya and CJ that morning, informing them about something good. They found a jacket that matches something that Sevvy wore weeks before the murder within the vicinity of the crime scene. Initially, it looked like they finally had something good for the case, but Maya felt it too good to be true. The timing was too soon as it was found almost immediately after the bail hearing. The jacket could easily be a nail to Sevvy’s coffin as well as his walk out of jail card. Because of this, Maya decides to have the FBI do the forensics on the jacket, fearing that a cop may have planted the evidence.

After some digging, Maya and CJ found a recurring name of a police officer in the files of the old and new case against Sevvy. Detective North was the officer who responded to the call during the time of the first two murders. He stayed with Sevvy’s kids until the situation deescalated. As soon as Alan realizes what is going on, he notifies the LAPD immediately. On the other hand, Maya and CJ have drinks with Detective North, in an attempt to make him talk. Their drinking session confirms their worst fears as North clearly showed signs that he wishes to put Sevvy behind bars, and is perhaps willing to do whatever it takes.

Riv tells Maya about the listening device that he and CJ found in the house. Fearing for their safety, Riv decides to have Maya rent a hotel while the police handled the situation. Eventually, Maya has him agree to go with her to the hotel, but work calls her back to the office. Riv spent the evening at the hotel, monitoring the house through a phone application. When Riv receives a notification about movement at the house’s front door, he rushes to head there. At home, Buck was rummaging through Maya’s files, looking for something she could use against Wolf. However, Leo was also there, but Buck knew too late as Leo used a wire to kill him. Leo stood over Buck’s lifeless body, pondering what to do next.

‘The Fix’ Season 1, Episode 7 ‘Ghost Whisperer’ Final Verdict

The show has its way of always coming up with explosive endings. Also, the complicated plot got even crazier as Wolf plots to oust Angela and earn his place as First Chair of the case once more. The District Attorneys are taking risks, especially with Alan having Loni fake a situation that sends wolf panicking. Maya, on the other hand, made the right call when she decides to sit on using the jacket for evidence. It seems that a lot of people are hell bent on sending Sevvy to jail, but some do not wish to have to go through the judiciary process.

The FIx continues Monday, May 6th with ‘Queen for a Day’ at 10/9c on ABC.
