'The Purge' Season 1, Episode 6 'The Forgotten' Recap: Unhinged

When you are out in the open during The Purge, the odds are quite simple: Kill or Die. Our protagonists luckily have fate on their side, so they reach safety in time. However, some are not as fortunate as the others. On the night where America embraces its most distasteful desires, the line between good and evil disappears.

In this week’s episode of The Purge, Rick (Colin Woodell) and Jenna Betancourt (Hannah Emily Anderson) make it home safely. Meanwhile, Jane Barbour (Amanda Warren) walks into David Ryker’s (William Baldwin) trap. As the episode reveals Joe’s (Lee Tergesen) origins, Miguel (Gabriel Chavarria) and Penelope Guerrero (Jessica Garza) make a daring escape from the Carnival of Flesh.

Miguel and Penelope put up a show for Henry Bodreaux (Dylan Arnold) who happily discussed what he planned to do with them. Just as Henry asked for Miguel’s last words, he receives a headbutt that knocks him down. Because of this, Miguel escapes and frees his sister shortly after. The siblings successfully evade Rex (Christopher Berry) and the Carnival Security by setting up some diversions. In the end, the duo leaves the carnival by hiding themselves under the dead, taken out of the fair.

Jane’s worst mistake was trying to save David. Sadly, the tables turned once she arrived at David’s house. At first, David seemed to be hospitable and unalarmed. However, his calmness had an eeriness to it. As David toured Jane around his house, Jane lost her sense of security. As a result, she bolted off for the front door, but it was locked. Eventually, Jane found Bracka’s (AzMarie Livingston) body in a bathtub. Moments later, Jane found herself in David’s disturbing exhibit, where women were bound in a display case. Unfortunately, Jane faced their fate as well.

After making it back to their house safely, Rick and Jenna argue. Rick concerned himself with Jenna’s decision to head to Lila Stanton’s (Lili Simmons) room. However, this backfires when Jenna laments about how she lost the man she loved in the Stanton Mansion. Fortunately, the couple reconciles after Jenna calls Lila, but a man answers, telling her that Lila is dead. As they went to get something to eat, a series of loud knocks on their door startles them. When Rick checks the surveillance camera feed, Lila appears, begging them to help her.

Injustice

We get a little more about Joe’s origins. During regular days, Joe is a factory worker. Also, he shares an apartment with his coworker, John (Steve Coulter). At work, Joe is highly respected and seen as their leader. At some point, he takes his crew to a bar to celebrate after successfully speeding up their progress, earning a profit. However, their time in the company suddenly ended when they head to work and see their workplace locked. During the evening, Joe found his calling to Purge when he flipped through TV channels. At present, Joe had a new contract to save: Jane Barbour.

The Purge continues on Tuesday, October 16, with ‘Lovely Dark and Deep’ at 10/9c on the USA Network.
