‘The Royals’ Season 4, Episode 6 ‘My News Shall Be the Fruit to That Great Feast’ Recap: God Save The Queen [SPOILERS]

This week on “The Royals” Season 4, episode 5, titled “My News Shall Be the Fruit to That Great Feast,” poor old Cyrus (Jake Maskall) is missing all the drama in the palace. He’s tucked away somewhere in the Venezuelan Embassy because Robert (Max Brown) banished him for his treacherous words. He missed all the smack talk that was thrown around during what could be Helena’s (Elizabeth Hurley) last birthday as queen.

The Royals’ family and their dates

After her night out with Rachel (Victoria Ekanoye), Helena wakes up to Sebastian (Tony Sandeman) naked and on her side. It’s the morning of her birthday, and her mother greets her. Helena had to go outside and make some excuse about being hungover so that the Grand Duchess (Joan Collins) and the maids would not go in. Helena did tell Sebastian that last night can never happen again.

Onto Jasper (Tom Austen) and Len (Alexandra Park). Jasper still thinks Robert had something to do with his assassination. So he was in bed, looking at pictures from that day. Len comes from behind and tries to give a back hug, but end up putting Jasper in a lot of pain. They were on the verge of having a wake-up call, but Robert had to walk in on them. And he did not look pleased. He asked how Jasper was and how Len was with their mother’s present and trotted off.

Jasper confronted his father, asking him to leave. They talk about a moment from Jasper’s childhood that hurt him the most. It was his third-grade spelling bee, and he made it to the finals. He resented his father for not being there.

People didn’t have to wait long to find out Willow’s (Genevieve Gaunt) answer to Robert’s proposal. It was a maybe. But they look like they were together because they kissed when Robert invited her to be his date for his mother’s birthday dinner.

Now, the cherry on top that will make the evening even more interesting. With Robert’s approval of Liam (William Moseley) and Kate’s (Christina Wolfe) relationship, he invites her to be his date for the night’s event.

The most interesting family dinner

Count on Robert to make the evening more dramatic than necessary. He invited Sebastian, Len’s friend who Jasper is super jealous of, and Helena’s one-night stand. The Grand Duchess entered the room with Count Bellagio (Richard Brake), aka Jasper’s dad, on her arm and already made comments about Helena. But this wasn’t just a family affair, anymore. Len invited Crown Prince Hansel of Liechtenstein (Damian Hurley) from Helena’s favorite show, “Royal and Beautiful.” He joined them for dinner and was intrigued with what the family threw around.

The family dinner seemed more like a group therapy session. Everyone started venting about what they hate about someone in the room. They talked about Kate and Liam’s relationship, Duchy’s accidental murder, Jasper and Len’s relationship, Liam and Robert’s feud, and Sebastian’s and Willow’s place at the dinner party. Prince Hansel found all of this entertaining.

The Count also vented a bit. He told a story about his son and a spelling bee. He stayed far back, in the shadows, because he didn’t want his son to be ashamed of him. But he was so proud of him for making it that far. Even though he missed the word, his father knew would rise above the pain and trouble his father brought. In a split second, The Count remembered the word his son missed, “unanswerable.”

When Helena had enough, she told Robert to walk away. When he refused, the queen threw her wine at him and amazingly reached him from far across the table. To end the dinner, Robert announced his engagement with Willow. At least now we know she has an answer.

Robert’s between a rock and a hard place

After Robert was drenched in red wine, everyone left. Jasper and his father finally got the closure they needed. They talked in the tunnels, and Jasper admitted he wouldn’t have been ashamed of his father. But what he said next shocked Jasper and everyone watching. It was his father who shot him. All with good intentions, though. He wanted to make things better between them, so he shot him. Jasper became a national hero, stepped away from his past, and got the princess.

On the other side of the palace, Len and Liam turned to their old ways and smoked a joint. After that night’s events, they probably needed it.

Everyone came back to the dining area for birthday cake. The birthday queen gave a touching speech about family and welcomed Willow to the family. Liam also stepped up and apologized and said he was proud of his family.

After cake, Robert found the Count in his office chair. The secret about him being Jasper’s father was out in the open. He then threatened to sell Robert’s story about being a jealous king if he didn’t give Jasper an elevated position. With that, he asked Robert to bid farewell to the Grand Duchess for him and left.

Then in his room, Robert finds Cassandra (Emily Barber) in a barely-anything-there lingerie set. She’s a smart woman and practically knows every secret within those palace walls. Cassandra even told Robert that Willow didn’t really love him, was just playing with his heart, and was really in love with Liam. She left with a promise that Robert would, one night, long for her.

Helena had a good night with Sebastian, using her birthday as an excuse to do it. Unfortunately, her mother walked in on her handcuffed to the bedpost in a racy maid’s outfit.

On the other side of things, Cyrus isn’t having the best time. He’s seeking refuge in the Venezuelan Embassy, stuck with cold microwavable food, and is living with another political refugee who hates his guts.

“The Royals” continues next Sunday, April 22th, with “Forgive Me This My Virtue” at 10/9c on E!
