TV REVIEW: The Vampire Diaries “Do You Remember the First Time?”

By Chelsea Ballinger

What to say about last night’s Vampire Diaries episode? Julie Plec loves the fans. Lets break down “Do You Remember the First Time?”

Say what?

That’s what we say here in TVD world when someone rejects Damon Salvatore. Okay, okay yes Damon has made horrible choices in life which Alaric pointed out for him while lying in a hospital bed, but come on! If you were Elena and Damon showed up at your door would you just simply reject him?

Well Elena did.

“His eyes were really blue and pretty.”

Thank you, Elena for pointing out the obvious. Now get your man back!

Alaric and Jo

Let us all hope that this relationship doesn’t turn out horribly for our favorite Cult Studies Professor.

Damon: She’s bossy… I like her.

Actually, Damon might have spoken too soon as Jo pointed out Liam’s great credentials to him when he first saw Elena’s newest love interest showing affection for her.

Grey’s Anatomy plug

Speaking of Liam, Caroline nicknamed Elena’s new guy McDreamy, a very suitable choice, but maybe we should call him Sherlock Holmes instead? Guy just won’t let the mysterious revival of the Corn Maze girl Go!

Damon: Tell me, how freaked out are you right now?

Liam (Under Compulsion): I feel a little threatened, but I think I can take you.

Damon: Confident… Sexy.

Indeed, but it’s not enough as Elena (after some dancing with Damon and hearing a great speech about what they had) ends up taking a shot with him and asking him to take her to the place where she last told him she loved him.

But wait. Let’s just take a moment to talk about how great Damon’s speech was as usual.

“I would rather spend every moment in agony than erase the memory of you.”

*Cues feels*

We don’t know how Ian Somerhalder does it, but the way he tells a woman he loves her, we can’t help but to feel like he is telling us. Elena herself couldn’t help but go get some air after that.

Liam disappeared for the rest of the episode, which left us wondering how a guy could just leave the girl he likes with her ex for such a long time, but it turns out after being surprised that Elena’s dead boyfriend was now alive, he did some digging on the corn maze girl and threatened Elena to either tell him the truth or he will find out himself.

Told you he was trouble.

Enzo, that little sneaky devil

“My hands were covered with blood, the touch screen wouldn’t work.”

Someone should have probably told Enzo the rules of touchscreen reading, but our British badass spent the episode torturing Tripp, trying to get information on his band of hunters. It was cut short when Caroline and Stefan interrupted him and informed him that Tripp’s band of merry men captured Sherriff Forbes and wanted their leader back. Enzo delighted us all when he informed Stefan of Caroline’s feelings for him.

“She’s got a thing for you mate.”

THANK YOU ENZO!

But when we refer to Enzo as a sneaky devil, we mean literally because when the trade off was made at the Mystic Falls border, Tripp didn’t feel so well. In fact, Tripp couldn’t even speak anymore once he started dying. Turns out Enzo turned Tripp into a vampire just before giving him back. Must say, shocked that Tripp died so soon, but something tells us that he was just the start of the band of vampire slayers.

Caroline can’t go back

Poor Stefan, he has not been having a great season so far. Yes, he got his brother back but now he might have lost his best friend forever. Stefan asked Caroline why she had feelings for him and to sum up her answer, because from the moment she became a vampire she got to know and befriend the real Stefan, the Stefan that was kind and amazing. Now Caroline cant go back because the fact that Stefan gave her up so easily meant that his feelings for her weren’t the same. We wont give up on them, but Stefan will have to do a lot more grovelling to get her back.

Year of Bon Bon

Bonnie is still alive, Kai nursed her because he still needs her. Bonnie rebuilt the ascendant and Kai was excited to get back home, but apparently she had a trick up her sleeve. She hid her magic! Not only did she hide her magic, she hid it inside cuddles, her favorite stuffed bear. Kai is impressed, but not happy.

Called It!

When I say I called it, I called it. Jo is a witch and Kai’s younger sister! Once Alaric saw the scar on Jo’s abdomen, she informed him of the time her brother, Kai killed her family and gutted her. Kai will probably escape 1994 and we are looking forward to the family reunion. Speaking of Gemini Coven, we got a small hint of Liver, but Luke reminded his sister that when their Gemini coven calls, they have to leave. This Gemini Coven is getting more interesting.

Rain and True Love

Damon and Elena went back to the Mystic Falls border where he reminded her that she rode through the fire with him, literally. Elena forced herself to remember crossing the border, causing her to reverse her vampirism. She remembered bits and pieces, but not enough because she still couldn’t remember the rain kiss Damon mentioned to her. Yes, Julie Plec loves her fans, ladies and gents. Delena fans were gifted with an epic flashback rain kiss as Damon let Elena go because he saw that she finally had the life she wanted.

Hope

While Damon drowned his sorrows in the cemetery, he came across Cuddles, Bonnie’s now magic filled bear. Now is the time for operation Get Bonnie Back!

Here are some questions that remain unanswered, for now.

Will the Salvatore brothers get their women back? When will we officially meet the Gemini Coven? How will the gang get Bonnie back? And where were Jeremy and Sarah? Will Matt become the new Tripp? Will this show ever run out of epic speeches? I hope not.

Until next time fellow TVD Watchers!
