WWE's 'WrestleMania 36' To Run For Historic 2-Night Show, Rob Gronkowski to Host

The Super Bowl of sports entertainment is going for an unprecedented feat this year. The World Wrestling Entertainment has just announced that WrestleMania 36 will run for two nights on April 4-5. What’s more, newly-signed to WWE and former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is set to host the historic two-night, live audience-less event.

Earlier this week, WWE announced that WrestleMania 36 will—like its shows RAW and SmackDown! these past days—be streamed live from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando. Only essential WWE production personnel will be present alongside the performers duking it out on the pro wrestling promotion’s grandest stage of all. Saturday’s initial show will not feature a pre-show, going straight into the main matches. WWE also revealed that the entire show will take place in different locations in the performance center, something that definitely sparks curiosity (will we finally see the return of the boiler room match?).

This year’s WrestleMania match cards look promising as well. Among the initial bouts announced for the audience-less wrestling event is the building hype around 2020 Royal Rumble winner Drew McIntyre vs. Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship. Roman Reigns issued a challenge on SmackDown! two weeks ago to newly-minted Universal Champion Goldberg for a title match dubbed “Spear vs. Spear” match. Shayna Baszler won the opportunity at this year’s Elimination Chamber to face RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch for the title. “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt will also go head to head with John Cena, and AJ Styles threatens to put a nail in the coffin of The Undertaker’s career following the feud sparked at Super Showdown.

More WrestleMania 36 details will be announced during this week’s Friday Night SmackDown!.

WrestleMania 36 was supposed to take place in Tampa Bay but was subsequently canceled amid coronavirus threats.
