Biohackers Season 1 Episode 6 Recap - Fate

In the present day, Mia wakes up inside the train. A woman wearing protective gear asks for her name and what happened there. Mia looks around and sees a mosquito flying near her. She kills one and uses a pair of glasses to check it. When she sees its red eyes, she remembers what Jasper had told her before. She finds mosquito bites on Niklas’ body and the other passengers. The woman in the protective gear says she’s a doctor and everything is under control. Mia explains that the mosquitoes were modified and that they spread Coxsackievirus. The doctor says they still have to make the cure. So, Mia says she will get one antibody dose, which they could amplify. The doctor thinks Mia is only panicking, so she leaves her, closing the train door behind her. However, Mia manages to escape by breaking the window.

Mia goes to Jasper’s lab in the woods to get the antidote. However, Jasper arrives and grabs the vial that is on the table. Mia says that Lorenz released the mosquitoes on the train, and they need the antidote to save everyone. But, Jasper says they have everything under control, and Lorenz is making the antidote herself. Jasper complains that Mia doesn’t care if he dies, and she still wants to stop Lorenz and her work. Mia reveals the Homo Deus project, but Jasper doesn’t believe her. He drops the vial on the floor and steps on it before leaving. The authorities think that what happened on the train was a terrorist attack. So, Jasper calls the police to report Mia’s location. Mia’s friends arrive at the lab to help her. With only a few drops left on the cap, Chen-Lu can make an antidote enough for all the passengers. When the police arrive, Lotta pretends to be Mia, so Mia manages to escape. Then she goes to the hospital and gives a doctor the antidote.

Meanwhile, Lorenz destroys some of her things at the lab and reports a break-in. She says she trusts her employees and never thought they could do that to her. After making the report, she spends her time enjoying her private pool. When Jasper comes over, asking for the antidote, she says she has already started making them. Jasper finds the files about the Homo Deus project and confronts Dr. Lorenz. The police get to the house, and Jasper sees Dr. Lorenz tell them he was the one behind the attack and not Mia.

The next day, Mia finds out that the antidote didn’t work. And that Dr. Lorenz intentionally used a mutated virus. So, Mia goes to Dr. Lorenz’s house carrying the DNA samples they stole. She agrees to hand them over in exchange for the antidote. But, she realizes that Dr. Lorenz wants her to use Homo Deus instead. Mia brings the Homo Deus to the hospital to use it on the passengers. Afterward, she goes back home and thanks her friends for helping her. That night, she received an email containing the files from the Homo Deus project. It was Jasper who sent them. She immediately messages the journalist she’s working with to meet him the next day.

When the journalist turns around, it’s Dr. Winter, Dr. Lorenz’s friend. They meet for the first time, and Mia hands the USB to him containing all the information about the Homo Deus experiment. Two men abduct her and put her inside a van when she hands it over. Inside, she sees Dr. Lorenz with tape over her mouth and her hands tied.

Our Thoughts:

So, who’s the real enemy here? Is Dr. Lorenz the bad guy here, or is it Dr. Winter? We thought they were friends, but it seems like in this show, friendship is a tricky thing. You never know who is the real friend and who is the one going to stab you in the back. Dr. Lorenz would do anything to get what she wanted and even experimented on the passengers just so she could use the Homo Deus again. But this time, it worked.

And Mia got away from trouble again this time because her friends were always there to support her. Chen-Lu has been her savior for a few times now. If it wasn’t for her, Mia would be in big trouble. And the difference between Jasper and Mia is that Mia has loyal friends. Niklas and Dr. Lorenz betrayed Jasper, so we can assume he was really hurt. How could he trust again after that? Let’s not forget that Mia also used him to get to Dr. Lorenz.
