Demi Lovato Reveals New Documentary 'Simply Complicated'

Demi Lovato continues to enjoy a colorful 2017. The “Sorry Not Sorry” singer revealed that she will be releasing her new documentary, “Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated” next month, October 17th on YouTube. In a video teasing the documentary, Lovato said that this project has been “a long time in the making.”
She also sat down for an interview with The Hollywood Reporter to talk about the documentary as well as revealing some deeply personal things that are related to “Simply Complicated.”

According to Lovato, she wants to show her fans a deeper, more personal aspect of her especially when she’s off-stage. It could be very mysterious for lots of fans to know what goes on behind the scenes for their favorite celebrities. It’s not always a happy life in the limelight, as struggles come and go too.

“I’m looking at my future and my past, and I want to share that with my fans,” Lovato says of the docuseries. When asked about why it was called “Simply Complicated,” Lovato said, “I’ve had a lot of experiences in my life, and I’ve been open about my story and my journey, and I think I am simply complicated.”

As for why “Simply Complicated” will drop on YouTube instead of any other streaming platforms, Lovato says that the video site has been around for so long that she feels that partnering with them is a dream come true—especially since the singer started her own channel on YouTube 10 years ago. “I’ve been able to create my own content and to connect with my fans through there,” Lovato said.

Aside from showing fans a glimpse of her life, Lovato also said that she will be opening up about her sexuality in the docuseries. The singer has been keeping quiet about her sexual orientation and has strongly kept it personal over the years. However, in a tweet she posted last week, Lovato finally broke the ice. “Just because I’m refuse to label myself for the sake of a headline doesn’t mean I’m not going to stand up for what I believe in,” she says. “If you’re that curious about my sexuality, watch my documentary. But I don’t owe anybody anything.”

Lovato’s sixth album, “Tell Me You Love Me,” will be out September 29th.
