Ewan McGregor Brings Christopher Robin To Life, 'Winnie The Pooh' Reunion

The heart-melting teaser trailer for “Christopher Robin” just came out. Now, everyone’s childhood self is happy while they’re adult side is sobbing senselessly. Needing a little bit of magic, Christopher Robin gets an unexpected visit from a childhood friend, Winnie the Pooh.
The trailer begins with Ewan McGregor as Christopher Robin. The story is set in the 1940’s when Christopher Robin just got back from World War II. He now works for a luggage selling company. The first scene already broke hearts when Christopher Robin had to disappoint his family. With news that they can’t go away that weekend, Christopher Robin is forced to attend an emergency meeting.

Sending his wife (Hayley Atwell) and daughter to the getaway he can’t go to, Christopher Robin is left alone and lonely. He sits on a park bench saying, “What to do, what to do, what to do?” Then, an old but familiar voice comes from behind, startling Christopher Robin. Still voiced by Jim Cummings, Pooh gives Christopher Robin the bit of magic he needs.
The trailer ends with Christopher Robin sadly telling Pooh he’s cracked to which Pooh replies, “Well, I don’t see any cracks. A few wrinkles, maybe,” while caressing his old friend’s face.

Pooh touched the hearts of Christopher Robin and many more

Director Marc Forster tells Entertainment Weekly, “The movie is so full of joy and emotion and also of scenes that I think are very timely.” He also adds, “[Pooh] is still as relevant today as he’s ever been. Perhaps even more so.”
The classic stories of Pooh and his animal friends follow their adventures in Hundred Acre Woods. However, the screenplay written by Alex Ross Perry and Allison Schroeder looks at how the real world could use a little more Pooh-ness, positivity, and friendship.
Forster, also the director of “Finding Neverland,” tells more about Winnie the Pooh. “I believe he’s not just a lovely teddy bear for children to play with or who can put you in a good mood. There’s this timeliness to him, and his Pooh-isms, as naive as they sound, there’s always so much truth to them.” He adds, “There’s almost a New Age aspect to them. Milne was able to capture that, and that sort of philosophy of the character gives him a timeless aspect.”
Some familiar and loved faces will also grace the screen. Tigger (voiced by Chris O’Dowd), Eeyore (Brad Garrett), Owl (Toby Jones), Piglet (Nick Mohammed), Rabbit (Peter Capaldi), and Kanga (Sophie Okonedo).
“Christopher Robin” hits theaters August 3.
