'Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween' Trailer: An Old Story Left In A New Town With New Monsters

When it comes to Halloween movies, Goosebumps definitely comes out as one of the friendliest. It’s whimsical, and it lets the faint-hearted fall asleep at night. And it looks like Goosebumps: Haunted Halloween is following its predecessor footsteps in the exact same Halloween ride.

For Goosebumps: Haunted Halloween, the holiday of scares comes to life at the hands of new characters in a new town. At the start of the trailer, we see two kids Sonny (Jeremy Ray Taylor) and Sam (Caleel Harris) ride up to an old, abandoned house on their bikes. You don’t walk into a creepy house like that but, of course, the kids do. And as the closing door reveals, it was once the Stine’s home.

In there, the kids find one of R. L. Stine’s monster books, possibly the worst one entitled Haunted Halloween. And from here on, we’re treated with new, funny, and creepy monsters that’ll plague the town of Wardenclyffe.

Slappy the Dummy makes a Chucky-esque comeback. And some other monsters stepping back in from the first movie are the Abominable Snowman and the Werewolf. We also get a glimpse of a few new monsters like the pumpkin head witch trio, pumpkin bats, and something that looks to have come out of Friday the 13th.

Sadly, none of the first film’s actors came along for the second ride. Instead, we get a glimpse of Jumanji’s Madison Iseman taking the lead role. We also see The Goldbergs Wendi McLendon-Covey and Crazy Rich Asians’ Ken Jeong completing the gang.

In the end, we get a gummy bear packed sequence with Sonny and Sam. And even though they’re still small and squishy, those gummy bears definitely pack a fight and can be a bit terrifying really.

Though Goosebumps: Haunted Halloween runs quite similar to the first movie, it still definitely has us excited for another Halloween laugh. There’s also that little glimmer of hope that it doesn’t turn out to be too similar to the first film that we still get to enjoy it as much.

Goosebumps: Haunted Halloween premieres on Friday, October 12th.
