HBO Releases Trailer for Docu: George Carlin’s American Dream

Every generation has its own batch of comedians and artists to air out the voice of their times, but George Carlin has managed to remain an all-time great, with rants and bits that still remain relevant today. With several comedians considering Carlin as a legend in the industry, HBO has decided to release a documentary called George Carlin’s American Dream.

Watch the trailer:

The documentary will come in two parts, and actually comes from producers Judd Apatow and Michael Bonfiglio. The trailer also features a lot of big names in comedy today, like Jerry Seinfeld, Patton Oswalt, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, and Bill Burr.

Though it’s Carlin’s political rants in his later career that managed to remain relevant today, he has actually had quite the run, and you can even see some of his bits from back when talk shows were still in black and white. The documentary even decides to go very personal with his life, including the troubles he had with his family as well as drug abuse—because what celebrity doesn’t have their struggles with drugs after they make it big?

This documentary should provide some great insight on Carlin, seeing that it was his act that kind of opened the doors for this ‘relevant comedy’. If it weren’t for him, we probably wouldn’t have the more edgy, thought-provoking comics like Dave Chappelle or Bill Burr. Hopefully the docu would shed some light on Carlin for fans, as well as people who have yet to run into his material.

George Carlin’s American Dream premieres on HBO Max on May 20.
