Jane's Journey to End as Drop Dead's Sixth Season Announced to Be its Last

Jane’s long journey will finally come to a close when Drop Dead Diva’s current season ends, it was revealed today.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed today that Lifetime’s long-running romantic comedy drama about a ditzy wanna-be model who finds herself reincarnated in the body of a mentally astute plus size lawyer (Brooke Elliott) will end when the series completes its current season.

The show, which touched on themes of reincarnation, love and the quest to find meaning in life, resonated with fans worldwide and received multiple GLAAD awards during its run. Despite wrangles with Lifetime over a more cost-effective financial model, the show was resurrected after a cancellation scare and returned for a successful fifth season last year.

However, in a bid to shake up its programming structure, the Network has picked up two new dramas to series in Un-Real and The Lottery, both of which will join Devious Maids and Witches of East End on the network’s scripted roster.

Drop Dead Diva returns to Lifetime for a 13 episode sixth season, which kicks off with a special two hour premiere on March 23 at 9 pm.
