Johnny Depp Sued By Crew Member For Alleged Assault On the 'City of Lies' Set

Johnny Depp is being sued for allegedly punching location manager Greg “Rocky” Brooks on the set of his upcoming film, City of Lies. Brooks filed a lawsuit against Depp on July 9, Variety reports. Brooks mentioned the incident happened on April 13, 2017, at the Barclay Hotel in Los Angeles.

The lawsuit alleges that Depp continued to scream and berate Brooks until the actor’s bodyguards removed him from the scene. Brooks said that he was asked to have an extension to accommodate Depp, who wants to direct a more extended version of a scene. On the other hand, Brooks clarified he was able to get the permit extended twice, but they had to wrap at 11 PM. He then took it up to director Brad Furman, but Furman allegedly said, “Why don’t you tell that to Johnny Depp?”

Brooks alleges that he enlisted the help of a police officer to help break the news to the actor, but Depp flared up and told him that he did not have the right to tell him what to do.

From there Johnny Depp reportedly began taunting Brooks. While screaming at Brooks, Depp allegedly punched him twice in the lower left side of his rib cage. Depp then yelled, ”I will give you $100 000 to punch me in the face right now.” Brook is seeking monetary damages from the movie star, though the exact amount remains unspecified.

The said incident on the City of Lies set comes as the latest in the series of issues that have popped up for Depp. The actor is also said to be entangled in another lawsuit from one of his former bodyguards with regards to his financial excesses.

City of Lies stars Depp as Detective Russell Poole, the real-life police officer responsible for investigating the death of smalls as he delves into the mystery behind the musician’s murder. The film is slated for a September 7 release.
