'Castle Rock' Trailer Teases Dark, Sinister Things Taking Over Town

Castle Rock has always been a place that exudes mystery and bone-chilling secrets. It’s a fictional town prominent in most of Stephen King’s famous novels and novellas, including “Cujo,” “The Body” (the basis for the 1986 film Stand By Me), “The Dead Zone,” and “Needful Things.” Castle Rock is a staple setting that went on to haunt many readers just by the thought of it.

Now, the latest final trailer for Hulu’s Castle Rock series has dropped, and it offers an even more terrifying glimpse of the town and what the residents are all going to face.

Much like the previous books that were set in the town of Castle Rock, the Hulu series seems to capture the perfect essence of the place’s sinister background and secrets. For one thing, some of the main characters in Castle Rock are town dwellers themselves in the books. Scott Glenn plays Alan Pangborn, the town’s Sheriff and the main protagonist of “Needful Things.” He was the one that shop owner Leland Gaunt had a hard time trying to hypnotize. We then have André Holland’s Henry Deaver, a death row attorney who’s assigned to a mysterious Shawshank prisoner played by Bill Skarsgård.

Castle Rock’s trailer packs more horrors than the first teaser. Here we focus on Henry’s character, who seems to be a spectator to the town’s decay and destruction. Also making her return to the King universe is Sissy Spacek as Ruth Deaver, Henry’s estranged mother. Spacek also gave life to the 1974 film Carrie, the horror master’s first novel. Chosen Jacobs (IT) also joins the series, this time as Wendell Deaver, Henry’s son.

With all the terrifying things happening in Castle Rock, one is inclined to ask—what’s up with the town? What is it hiding?

We’ll never know for sure until the series premieres Wednesday, July 25th on Hulu.
